CONFERENCE ON THE PASSING OF DR. PATRECIA C. P. LANGLEY
It is with profound sorrow, yet with confidence in the blessed hope, that the Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists mourns the passing of Dr. Patrecia C. P. Langley: pastor, evangelist, Bible instructor, medical missionary, church planter, mentor, prayer warrior, colleague, and friend.
Pastor Langley’s life bore witness to God’s providential leading. From an early age, she answered a higher calling, choosing ministry and the salvation of souls over prominence and personal acclaim. She was a commissioned minister who gave a lifetime of extraordinary ministry to the global Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving alongside some of the most influential evangelists, pastors, and administrators.
Most notably she labored steadfastly in the Northeastern Conference from December 1, 1969, to the time of her passing on August 31, 2026. Her ministry was woven into the history of the Northeastern Conference. Pastor Langley brought an unusual devotion to the work of God, whether beneath a gospel tent, inside a prison, beside a hospital bed, in a family’s home, or on her knees in prayer. Throughout her ministry she held many roles, her final assignment was in the Chaplaincy department where she provided pastoral care across the conference territory.
Through pastoral ministry, evangelism and church planting, she helped give birth to and strengthen congregations across our territory, including Willis Avenue, Apocalypses 14, City Tabernacle, Goshen Temple, Flatbush, Hanson Place, New Jerusalem, Calvary First Nigerian, Horeb, Mount Sinai, Hope, Charity, New Hope, Shiloh, Kingsboro, Brownsville, Lighthouse Tabernacle, New Life, Voice of Hope, Hebron, Emmaus, Queensboro, Hunts Point, and Breath of Life. These congregations remain living representations of her labor.
Her influence extended far beyond the Northeastern Conference. As an evangelist, medical missionary, and Bible instructor she carried the gospel across five continents. She conducted evangelism training throughout the United States, the Caribbean, England, and Africa, developing workers and forming teams of dedicated intercessors wherever she went.
She was the personification of prayer and prayer was her heartbeat. From1997 to 2021, she served as the Northeastern Conference Prayer Ministries Coordinator. She also helped lead the Global Power Bible Prayer Hotline, a 24-hour ministry active since 2000. Long before virtual prayer ministries became common, Pastor Langley recognized that technology could facilitate a holy meeting place where burdens were shared, faith was strengthened, and people encountered God.
